About
The Shepard family came about several years after Allison and Tyler met as college students. During that time, we grew very much in our faith, seeking to have a deeper revelation of God's Word and a deeper commitment in our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Through various circumstances, we were able to connect with some people with a similar desire who simply meet in their homes. We have so enjoyed that fellowship and the Lord has caused us to grow in such a way that we can serve the Church by opening our own home for the purposes of ministry. After we were married, Tyler was trained by a couple pastors in the church, meeting with them over several years and regularly preaching and teaching at Sunday morning worship gatherings and weekly Bible studies. While in Dayton, we had two children--and we added our third after moving to Lancaster. We see the Church as the Household of God, so we seek first for our family of five to be a display of God's spiritual reality of desiring a family for Himself.
We are not seeking to build anything for ourselves here on earth. Our desire is to see the Body of Christ built up by growing spiritually and helping others be equipped to serve. We do miss our church family who have been spread around, but we are encouraged by how God is working to expand His kingdom. Jesus said, "You are the salt of the earth..." (Matthew 5:13). Salt is meant to be spread around to be useful. We feel at this time in our lives opening our home is our calling for this purpose.
We desire to see people come to know Jesus. Jesus also said, "You are the light of the world; a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden..." (Matthew 5:14). We will be a display of Christ Himself to the world in our daily lives as we commit fully to Him and to loving and serving one another. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life; nobody comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). Our lives should be a clear picture of this one way, truth, and life. We don't have this fully figured out, but we are confident in God's ability to grow us and help us in everything.
There is nothing better than knowing the Lord!
